Community Media in South Asia
摘要
This Chapter: Community Media in South Asia provides an overview into the mapping of the alternative media sector in the South Asia region. Through observations on how community media is operationalised around the world, a foundation for better understanding was created. These ideals shared about community media are in keeping with many academics, thinkers, practitioners, activists, and other stakeholders who have addressed the phenomenon from various theoretical and thematic entry points. With specific focus on South Asia, a brief history that highlights the background to community radio in the region is provided in order to establish the unifying factors across Nepal, India, and Bangladesh that influenced the formation of these initiatives. Finally, the chapter briefly describes the mapping methodology utilised to gather, analyse, and present both secondary and primary data.
