Caroline Wyatt joined the BBC as a graduate trainee, before settling into the BBC World TV newsroom as a producer and reporter. From there she took a punt and left her staff job to travel to Berlin as a BBC “sponsored stringer”. Caroline covered Germany post-unification and all the societal and economic challenges that came after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Later she became a staff correspondent in Bonn, continuing with East–West stories. She started to do backfill conflict coverage in Iraq and later in Kosovo before taking up the post of Moscow correspondent in 1999. Post 9/11 from 2001 to 2 she was sent frequently to Afghanistan and in 2003 she went to Iraq as an embedded correspondent during the second Gulf War. After working in Paris for a couple of years Caroline became the first female Defence correspondent, and then the Religious Affairs correspondent. Caroline has Multiple Sclerosis and works in London as a radio presenter and documentary reporter.
