This manual explores systemic counselling within the field of Islamism, comparing approaches across Germany’s state and civil-society providers. Concentrating on the civil-society sector, it delineates key client groups—returnees, individuals at risk, their social circles, and relevant professionals—through the lens of an expanded Bronfenbrenner model. Six subgroups are examined to identify characteristic needs and resources. Special attention is given to the complex dynamics of returnees and the ripple effects on families, peers, and institutions. The resulting insights equip counsellors to design responsive, systemic interventions in an ever-shifting deradicalisation landscape.
