This chapter highlights how many charities and organisations go about their work to fulfil their aims and functions together with their obligations towards assisting and supporting asylum seekers and refugees are seldom reported. The use of social media within their work has been seen to demonstrate how effective this tool can be to create awareness to society and as it is a charity, it provides a channel for people to contribute funds to support the work they do. The role of the media in dictating agendas in issues associated with immigration is also referred to in this chapter. The chapter emphasises the importance of experience and knowledge of the employees and what qualities they bring to the organisation to support refugees. The issue of immigration is often politically charged and therefore the organisation works within a very challenging social and political environment, and this is explained in the chapter alongside explaining the impact this has on how they carry out their functions. The chapter ends by explaining the importance of volunteers within the organisation and the significant role they play in the organisation fulfilling its aims and objectives as a charity for the benefit of asylum seekers and refugees.
