In recent years, there has been increasing scholarly attention on the rise of the “populist radical right”, particularly exemplified by the Chilean Republican Party. Existing literature has focused on various aspects of this political movement, including its doctrinal and political core, ideology and discourse, electoral and communication strategies, and the relationship between the party and its partisan think tank, Republican Ideas. This chapter aims to address two key objectives: first, to analyze the predominant ideas and discourse propagated by Republican Ideas since its establishment in 2019, and second, to classify Republican Ideas as a partisan think tank and examine its primary functions. The chapter draws on literature from Latin America that explores the concept of partisan think tanks, building upon earlier works that outlined the relationship between these institutions and political parties. Recent studies, particularly in countries like Argentina and Chile, have delved into national cases and introduced new analytical approaches, including the development of indexes to measure the strategic capacity of think tanks in relation to their affiliated parties. However, there remains a gap in the literature concerning radical right partisan think tanks. This gap is particularly notable in the context of Chile, where extensive research has focused on categorizing think tanks and understanding their role in policy design and political group formation. Recent studies have also examined the ideological frameworks of these institutions, especially in the context of the cultural battle unfolding in Chilean society. The emergence of a “new generation of right-wing think tanks” in Chile has contributed to this cultural and political phenomenon, providing a contextual framework for analyzing Ideas Republicanas. The study of Ideas Republicanas is further motivated by the broader trend of the radical right's growth and consolidation, both domestically and internationally. In Chile, the Republican Party, initially conceived as a counterforce to the traditional right wing, has seen significant electoral success, becoming the party with a high performance. This paper thus contributes to the extensive literature on the Chilean right wing, complementing existing research on its various currents and the “republican phenomenon”. It also aligns with studies analyzing the discursive production of the Chilean right wing in light of recent political events.
