Network on Chip
摘要
This chapter discusses the Network on Chip (NOC) paradigm and its critical role in managing communication within complex System-on-Chip (SOC) designs. As traditional interconnect methods struggle with scalability, latency, and power efficiency, NOC provides a structured and efficient way to facilitate data transfer across multiple processing cores. The chapter delves into various NOC architectures, examining their suitability for different applications, along with an overview of different types of NOC IPs available for integration. It also discusses design considerations for implementing NOC in multicore SOCs, ensuring optimized performance, power, and area efficiency. By addressing these aspects, the chapter highlights how NOC serves as a backbone for next-generation high-performance and energy-efficient computing systems.
