Teacher Burnout Among High School Teachers
摘要
In this chapter, the results of a quantitative study investigating the relationships between teacher burnout, teacher empowerment, and teacher job satisfaction are described. To accomplish this task, 313 high school language teachers in the United States were surveyed and the resulting data was analyzed using Kendall’s tau-b. Strong significant negative correlations emerged between teacher burnout and teacher empowerment and also between teacher burnout and teacher job satisfaction. Moderate to strong significant negative correlations also surfaced between burnout and the six individual dimensions of teacher empowerment (i.e., decision making, professional growth, status, self-efficacy, autonomy, and impact). The implications of these factors for school leaders and policymakers wishing to address teacher burnout are discussed.
