The demand for wireless capacity is growing fast with high-data-rate multimedia services and applications under the dawn of fifth-generation (5G) technology and future systems. The advanced requirements of 6G networks may be beyond the traditional level of radio frequency (RF) communication, which has been predominant until now. Optical wireless communication is emerging as a strong contender, abetting the challenges by limited RF spectrum, especially because it offers unregulated access to spectrum. A 5G and 6G system priority would include high capacity, massive connectivity, ultra-low latency, robust security, energy efficiency, superior user experience, and reliable connectivity. In these aspects, 6G should be dramatically more successful than 5G. This research study will focus on the scope of the four promising OWC technologies of VLC, Li-Fi, OCC, and FSO communication to provide an effective approach for the successful deployment of 6G networks.

摘要
