Determine Whether Norepinephrine Amplifies the Commands of Indirect Motor Pathways
摘要
Previous research has found upper limb impairments in stroke may be related to increased presence of norepinephrine at the spinal cord. However, no prior research has investigated how decreasing norepinephrine(NE) changes cortical activity and the use of descending pathways. After administering a single dose of Tizanidine (TIZ), to decrease NE, preliminary results found increased connectivity between lesional hemisphere and paretic arm. This clinical trial is currently being conducted on a larger stroke population in a double-blinded manner.
