Characterizing the Effects of Transcutaneous Sensory-Specific Peripheral Electric Stimulation on Motor Unit Activity

Transcutaneous peripheral electric stimulation can acutely recruit motor units in a physiological order at the spinal level. This method has been used in various application in different pathologies, and has shown to have an impact on the CNS even after discontinuation. However, its impact of motor unit activity hasn’t been elucidated. We aimed to develop a framework to characterize its effects on motor unit activity and present preliminary results.
