Honegger, a Swiss composer, was born in Le Havre in 1892 and spent the majority of his life not in Switzerland, but in Paris. He always saw himself as Swiss, however, and felt torn between the German Protestant musical tradition and Latin sensuality throughout his life. He died in 1955.
