In the past few decades, within the scope of social theory, academic works have proliferated using the concept of normativity to explain phenomena that are very often distinct, heterogeneous and approached by very different philosophical traditions. Its contemporary emergence is related to the problems generated by globalization, such as the coexistence and conflicts between different cultures and peoples, as well as the outbreak of identity struggles related to race, gender or sexuality.
