Integrating Omics Approaches for Abiotic Stress Tolerance
摘要
Abiotic stress limits crop production. It disrupts the normal growth and developmental processes of the crops. Plants are naturally gifted with beneficial microbes which assist them in adapting and surviving on appearance of the stressful environmental conditions. Beneficial plant-microbe interactions are important for ameliorating the negative impacts of abiotic stress. The knowledge of the system biology is important for understanding the actual nature of the plant-microbe interactions and the complex mechanisms involved. Omics approaches open new horizons for enhancing the resistance of the plants to the abiotic stress thus further revolutionizing the knowledge of the plant-microbe interactions. The present chapter highlights the impact of abiotic stress on plants, how plants and microbes interact in the presence of abiotic stress, and the role of the omics approaches in the mitigation of abiotic stress in plants.
