FinTech Services as a Driver of Islamic Banks’ Financial Performance and Sustainability

The financial service business has been renovated by the engagement of computer-based technologies in the field of FinTech development. FinTech is generally distinct as the fusion of digital financial services invention, with the goal of enhancing the efficiency of financial services in general and banking services in particular. Islamic banking industry may unquestionably become more dominant due to online-based services, enhancing its competitiveness in the banking zone. This literature sought to investigate the inclinations of individuals in Jordan toward utilizing and embracing FinTech services provided by Islamic Banks. Data were assembled from 362 respondents from various areas in Jordan. The study verifies the beneficial impact of perceived usefulness and perceived simplicity of use, as well as Shariah docility, concerning FinTech services. The study concluded that Internet banking, Mobile Banking, ATM, and Crowdfunding reflected a positive significant statistical effect on the financial performance of Islamic banks measured by ROE and on financial sustainability indicator measured by Z-score parameter. Mobile banking showed the highest impact on Islamic banks’ ROE, as well as on financial sustainability. The study recommends that Islamic banks should exercise more efforts in innovating FinTech-based services, to increase their market share and enhance their competitive position. Further collaboration with FinTech corporation is required for introducing more online services that meet with the Sharia principles and regulations.
