Basic Concepts and a Brief History of Evolutionary Medicine

In a recently published book (Libertini et al., 2021a), Gerontology and Geriatrics are discussed in evolutionary terms. It was only possible to address these issues by exposing the theme of evolutionary medicine, of which the subject of the book was certainly a fundamental part. This book has an opposite starting point, evolutionary medicine, and in its exposition, gerontology and geriatrics considered in evolutionary terms surely cannot be disregarded. As the themes of the two books partially coincide, it is normal and not accidental that some of the arguments, facts, and bibliographic references are the same. This book focuses on the topics that are certainly not in common.
