In this chapter, we review the other non-traumatic vascular emergencies of the retroperitoneum region, including ilio-psoas hematoma and inferior vena cava (IVC) thrombosis. Ilio-psoas hematoma represents a rare condition with a very subtle symptomatology; an early and careful recognition of this pathological condition is only allowed with the aid of CT scanning. IVC thrombosis may be congenital or acquired; the recognition of this pathological condition is important for the purposes of correct therapeutic planning. A final overview of the potential Interventional Radiology role in the treatment of these two pathologic conditions was conducted with a comparison of the benefit of endovascular treatment compared to open surgery.
