Acute Mesenteric Ischemia and Infarction
摘要
Acute mesenteric ischemia (AMI) is a critical condition characterized by insufficient blood flow to the bowel, leading to tissue hypoxia and potential infarction with systemic complications, if not promptly diagnosed and treated. Radiologists play a pivotal role in the diagnosis and management of AMI, as CT represents the only method that allows an accurate assessment of the extent and underlying cause of mesenteric ischemia, giving all the elements useful for defining the most correct therapeutic strategy. This chapter will provide an overview of the role of CT in diagnosing and managing AMI, focusing on the main CT findings and discussing differential diagnoses, and treatment implications.
