This chapter describes the pharmacological management of major age-related diseases: atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, cancers, Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Information on prevalence, risk factors, pathophysiology, and non-pharmacological prevention strategies for each disease is presented. Essential disease assessment tools and serious drug–drug interactions/adverse drug reactions to avoid are highlighted.
