All of the preceding chapters deal with discrete maps. In this chapter, we study continuous systems of ordinary differential equations and introduce some canonical forms and maps therein. The most important map is the Poincaré first return map which oftentimes can help render the study of chaos in a continuous system into that of chaotic maps.
