Originally, the Cadiot–Chodkiewicz coupling was the bis-acetylene synthesis from alkynyl halides and alkynyl copper reagents. Now, it mostly refers to the copper-catalyzed alkyne–haloalkyne cross coupling. It is often high yielding and tolerates multiple functional groups. Cf. Castro–Stephens reaction.
