Some macrofinancial magnitudes, such as public spending and interest rates, are closely interlinked with patient satisfaction because they influence the financing capacity of governments to support public health. In the current healthcare system, patients are the central pillar, whereby the main objective of this essay is to know which macrofinancial variables mostly affect health policy through patient satisfaction. In this work, the causal relationship between macrofinancial determinants and patient satisfaction is analyzed by using the GMM estimator in two-steps for a regression analysis with dynamic panel data. From the results, it can be claimed that, as expected, health expenditure is the most significant factor affecting patient satisfaction. More specifically, house prices are one of the main determinants of patient satisfaction through its effect on health expenditure. The main contribution of this research is to unveil how much macrofinancial determinants affect the causal relationship between health expenditure and patient satisfaction, by highlighting those factors which researchers and practitioners must pay attention to.
