In this chapter we will consider the physical principles behind emission imaging systems. Taking Single Photon Emission and Positron Emission as examples, we consider how radioactive emissions can be used to generate signals associated with the presence of tracer materials introduced into the body. We consider how attenuation and scattering affect the signal we measure.

摘要

In this chapter we will consider the physical principles behind emission imaging systems. Taking Single Photon Emission and Positron Emission as examples, we consider how radioactive emissions can be used to generate signals associated with the presence of tracer materials introduced into the body. We consider how attenuation and scattering affect the signal we measure.
