Interdisciplinary Team Care
摘要
Interdisciplinary team care helps to ensure that care is delivered to patients with cleft palate and/or velopharyngeal dysfunction (VPD) in a coordinated and holistic manner. The need for and benefits of this type of comprehensive care is well documented across many organizations, including the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association. A cleft lip and palate team can act as a medical home for patients with orofacial clefts and for those with VPD. Interdisciplinary teams work together with patients and their families to establish a robust care plan. Quality improvement initiatives and research help to improve patient outcomes and establish evidence-based practice. Patients with cleft conditions and VPD who seek care from an experienced interdisciplinary team will benefit from improved communication from providers and will receive coordinated, comprehensive care to ensure the best outcomes.
