Oronasal fistula formation after cleft palate repair is a challenging problem, management of which requires extensive knowledge of anatomy and a broad array of reconstructive techniques. Herein we describe the incidence and causes of palatal fistula formation, as well as principles of prevention. We also describe some of the most common techniques for palatal fistula repair and the indications for each.
