This chapter describes the rationale and technique for speech multiview videofluoroscopy (MVF) for the evaluation of velopharyngeal function. The content of this chapter includes a comprehensive review of the literature as well as a discussion of important considerations for performing MVF in a clinical setting, such as radiation safety, barium utilization, speech sample requirements, and essential equipment. Lateral, frontal, and base views and patient positioning for optimal image capture are reviewed. Important structures and movement characteristics in each view are highlighted, and images and videos are included to illustrate clinical concepts. Lastly, imaging ratings and measurement as well as interpretation and reporting of results in the context of multidisciplinary velopharyngeal dysfunction team care are discussed.
