Analyzing the Impact of a Content-Based Instructional Approach on the Attitudes of ESP College Students Comparative Study in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt
摘要
With reference to instructional approach on the Attitudes in (English for Specific Purposes) ESP, three colleges in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt participated in this study which compared the attitudes about employing Content-Based Instruction (CBI) of three student groups. It also identified the similar needs that these three institutions’ students shared regarding ESP courses. 124 sophomore science majors enrolled in ESP classes throughout the three universities were included in the study, which employed a single group pretest-post test research design. The study instruments included a needs analysis survey of English language proficiency, semi-structured interviews, one scale measuring attitudes regarding computer-based intelligence. All three study groups in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain showed high levels of positive attitudes. This shows how well CBI integration in ESP classes affects students’ attitudes, and perspectives on CBI.
