The Impact of Fake News on the Psychological and Social State of the Public in the Context of the Sudan War Crisis

The great spread of digital media, especially social media, has led many people to seek refuge in the media as a quick and easy way to communicate and transmit news and information. It has also become a major source of news for many, but at the same time it has become a fertile environment for the circulation and dissemination of misleading information and fake news. The significance of the study resides in discussing a crucial topic, which is the impact of fake news on the psychological and social state of the public considering the crisis that Sudan is passing through. The study also highlights the challenges facing the public verifying fake news and disinformation that directly impacted the public. The main research problem is represented in the following question: how does fake news influence the psychological and social state of the Sudanese people during the war crisis in Sudan? The study seeks to identify the extent of the spread of fake news through social media among the public during the was crisis in Sudan. It also aims to analyze the psychological effects of fake news on Sudanese people, such as fear, depression, anxiety, as well as their impact on social relations. The current study adopts a field survey approach by designing a questionnaire as a tool to collect the main data. The study is divided into three main parts; the first part deals with the methodological introduction and previous studies, the second part addresses the study theoretical framework, and the third part addresses the field study, results, and recommendations.
