Bridging Theory and Practice: Pre-service Teacher’s Efficacy and Preparedness in the K to 12 Curriculum Through Online Internship
摘要
This study explored the relationship between pre-service teacher’s (PST’s) efficacy and their preparedness for online instruction in the K to 12 curriculum. A survey questionnaire was administered to assess these factors, utilizing descriptive and correlational research methodologies. Additionally, Focused Group Discussions and Content Analysis provided further validation and interpretation of the results. Participants included were the PSTs from a higher education institution during the 2021–2022 academic year. Findings revealed that these teachers demonstrated high efficacy in instructional strategies, classroom management, and student engagement, along with adequate preparedness in class preparation, lesson management, and assessment. Utilizing Albert Bandura’s Social Cognitive Theory, the study confirmed that, despite challenges in online teaching, PSTs were well-trained and maintained a positive attitude. Importantly, a positive correlation was found between their teaching efficacy and preparedness, indicating that higher efficacy is associated with greater readiness for teaching in the K to 12 curriculum.
