The Climate Change and Global Leadership: An Examination of China’s Approaches
摘要
This study examines China’s environmental policy discourses to understand the complex relationship between China’s environmental policies and its global leadership ambitions by using a social constructivist approach. The study aims to evaluate the consistency of China’s environmental regulations with the discourses expressed by Chinese government officials and how these discourses are formed. As the Chinese government discourse has increasingly emphasized environmental concerns in recent years, this study attempts to reveal the key points that Chinese officials highlight when framing the environmental issues. By analyzing the discursive strategies of Chinese officials, this chapter intends to provide a detailed understanding of China’s environmental policy and contribute to the broader literature on China’s environmental politics by revealing how Chinese officials frame environmental issues. The study seeks to understand China’s role in environmental issues and its implications for its global leadership ambitions by comparing the compatibility of discourses and policy initiatives.
