While most of us are still getting our hands around the fourth industrial revolution and NDE 4.0, we occasionally come across terms Industry 5.0 and NDE 5.0. It is being expressed in different forms, such as human-machine reconciliation, addressing shortcomings of the fourth revolution, serving large sustainability goals, artificial super intelligence, and quantum computers. In this chapter, we will explore a few diverse perspectives emerging around Industry 5.0 and share our opinion on it. We then translate that to the world of NDE 4.0. From a research perspective, it is worth exploring and addressing perceived limitations of the current revolution and whatever else is unfolding. However, from an application perspective, we believe it to be premature, and we need to be cautious of the marketing ploy behind its use. Since the subject is still in infancy, this chapter is an opinion and not a guidance.
