Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have increasingly relied on the use of computers for various operations and decision-making processes. Computers have enabled SMEs to streamline their business processes, manage finances, communicate with customers and suppliers, as well as access new markets. The use of computers has helped SMEs to reduce operational costs and increase efficiency, resulting in improved competitiveness. Computers have also enabled SMEs to access a wide range of online resources, including e-commerce platforms and social media. Additionally, cloud-based services have enabled SMEs to access IT infrastructure without having to invest in expensive hardware and software licenses. As SMEs continue to adopt new technologies, it is important for them to also consider their environmental impact and adopt green computing practices to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions. This study made an assessment of the status of green computing in enterprises using a qualitative approach. Findings revealed that the personnel are aware about the fundamentals of green computing, but there is no proper policy in organisations for adopting green computing philosophy. A framework has been devised based on the findings which can help SMEs turn towards green initiatives and develop a sustainable culture of green computing movement in their enterprise.
