1,2-Dichloropropane is primarily used as a chemical intermediate in the production of other organic chemicals, such as propylene, carbon tetrachloride, and tetrachloroethylene. It is also used in textile stain removers, oil and paraffin extractors, scouring compounds, metal cleaners, degreasers and solvent-based cleaning products, paint removers, and adhesives and is an ingredient in insecticides. Very little information was available on the exposure of the general population to 1,2-dichloropropane. Exposure can occur through inhalation of contaminated air or ingestion of contaminated water. There is sufficient evidence of the carcinogenicity of 1,2-dichloropropane, which causes cancer of the biliary tract (cholangiocarcinoma) in humans. Its urinary metabolite is 1,2-dichloropropane.

摘要
