Psychological Interventions in Pain. Contributions from Practice and Research in Latin America and the Caribbean
摘要
This chapter addresses pain as a complex sensory and emotional experience, influenced by biological, psychological, and social factors. Its conceptualization, pathophysiological classification, and theoretical models are analyzed, including the biopsychosocial model and the theories of gate control and neuromatrix. In addition, the contributions of Latin America in pain research and intervention are highlighted, as well as the importance of education in this area to improve the management of chronic pain. Psychotherapeutic models, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, relaxation, and hypnosis, are also presented, underlining their effectiveness in clinical contexts.
