Application of Printable Solar Cell in the Building Design to Mitigate Net Energy Demand Naturally
摘要
The production of greenhouse gases (GHGs) due to the conventional use of fossil fuel in the building sector is responsible for shortage of conventional energy as well as cause for the climate change. Therefore, in this study, an advanced mechanism has been approached at which the outer surface of the curtain wall of a building can be layered up with the printable solar cells to trap the photon energy and then convert it into electricity to satisfy the total energy demand for that building without any outsource connection. The study suggests that a standard 5000 SF residential house needs to install only 1 m2 printable solar cells to meet total energy demand of average of 7 KW/day; subsequently, a commercial building of a foot-printing 100’length × 100’width with 100’tall (10 floors) will require only 20 m2 exterior curtain wall to be layered up by printable solar cells on that building to meet its net energy of 140 KW/day. This cutting-edge technology indeed has the potential to address the urgent issue of global energy consumption and the climate change perplexity due to the conventional uses of energy consumption by the building sector globally.
