In the following chapter, the aim is to identify prevailing paradigms within the history of moral theology and assess the treatment of vulnerability in its Tradition. Rather than focusing on individual authors, a holistic approach to various historical moments is taken to capture shared spirits and central values across broad majorities at each stage. While most paradigms correspond to specific historical periods, it is noted that they remain relevant beyond those contexts. It is asserted that contemporary cultural intersections within the People of God and certain magisterial documents continue to reflect the five paradigms under examination. The task involves uncovering the underlying anthropologies within each paradigm and discerning the associated understanding of vulnerability.
