Carnivalization of Politics: Understanding India-Pak Relations via Cartoons
摘要
This chapter builds on the understanding of the Carnivalesque lens given by Bakhtin to understand how cartoons established India and Pakistan’s political discourse vis-à-vis Kashmir. We will critically study cartoons that portray this complex relationship between the two nations and their changing stances, shedding light on the intriguing, often comical, aspects of political interactions in the region. The aim is to highlight the absurdities and contradictions drawn by cartoons to reveal the underlying context and motive behind Kashmir’s discourse vis-à-vis India and Pakistan’s relations.
