Metaphors and Identity Through Political Cartoons in Kashmir
摘要
This chapter lays threadbare the themes, tropes, and metaphors that political cartoons in Kashmir have repeatedly used to assign value and shape Kashmir’s collective identity and memory. Everyday practices, aspects like food, clothes, culture, and the trope of the common man in Kashmir drawn through powerful metaphors will be explored to understand the narratives within the region. The chapter investigates the cartoons through the prism of Barthes’ coded iconic texts or connotations.
