This paper presents a paper-based cross-capacitive humidity sensor that utilizes the nanoporous structure of paper as both substrate and active sensing material, eliminating the need for additional sensing films. The sensor is easy to fabricate, requiring only the placement of copper electrodes and the folding of the paper into a cylindrical shape. The sensor is tested for humidity range of 0–80% RH. The response and recovery times of the sensor for transient humidity are 4.89 min and 2.77 min respectively. The sensor output is highly repeatable with maximum deviation of the peaks ± 1.9% only. The present sensor being low-cost, biodegradable, and simple to fabricate, making it ideal for applications like textiles and agriculture, where immediate response is not essential. Future improvements may include the addition of sensing films to further enhance performance.

摘要
