The coconut palm (Cocos nucifera Linn.) has great socio–economic significance as it is the source of livelihood for more than 20 million people globally, especially small and marginal farmers. It provides people basic needs such as food, drink, shelter, fuel, furniture, medicine, decorative materials and much more. The coconut palm is attacked by a number of pests all around the year. Coconut mite is a potential and invasive pest of coconut causing heavy economic loss to be coconut Industry. The coconut mites, Aceria guerreronis Keifer (Acari: Eriophidae) and the red palm mite, Raoiella indica Hirst (Acari: Tenuipalpidae) are serious mites pest and damage immature nuts causing serious yield losses. To control these mites, using Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategy is more applicable, because it is a pest population management system utilizing all suitable technologies in a compatible manner to maintain the pest population below the economic injury level. The IPM technology has defined advantage over the conventional management strategies. It is economical, eco-friendly, and more feasible management in a sustainable agro-ecosystem.
