August 28, 2022, the western land sea new corridor backbone project - Pinglu Canal officially started construction, the western land sea new corridor is located in the hinterland of China's western region, north of the Silk Road Economic Belt, south of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, synergistic convergence of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, in the pattern of coordinated development of the region has an important strategic position, and the Pinglu Canal will be opened up between China and the ASEAN The Pinglu Canal will open up a convenient water transportation channel for trade between China and ASEAN, extend the strategy of a strong nation of the sea to the cities along the middle and upper reaches of the Xijiang River, open up a new channel for the shortest distance of the Xijiang River mainstem into the sea, realize the direct connection between the 5, 873-km inland waterway network of Guangxi, part of the region of Yunnan and Guizhou, and the ocean transportation, effectively alleviate the pressure on the lower reaches of the Xijiang River, and in the long term, connect with Xianggui Canal which is being studied and demonstrated, and vertically connect with the Yangtze River, the Pearl River, and the Gulf of Tonkin. In this context, as the location of the Pinglu Canal, Nanning City, the waterway transportation pattern will change greatly with the construction of the Pinglu Canal. In this paper, we analyze the water transport pattern of Nanning City after the construction of the Pinglu Canal by quantitative argumentation and analysis of the choice of waterway transport routes by shippers, and through the comparison of transport economy and technology.
