A Simple Decision Support Tool to Identify Strategic Measures for the Adaptation of Collective Irrigation Systems to Conventional Water Scarcity
摘要
This study has set up and validated in a case study of Southern Italy a simple linear equation to select the most effective water saving measures, identified for application in collective irrigation systems of the semi-arid environment under financial and technical constraints. The equation has predicted a total saving of about 24% on the total water needs, mainly deriving from water network management and reuse of wastewater. The contribution of some measures is limited by financial and technical constraints, but the budget is integrated by the profit from hydro-power installation in the water network. Despite these limitations, the method may be useful for the allocation of individual costs among the most effective water saving options, and for the rejection of the less contributing measures.
