Planning the Evolution of the Sectors of a Construction Project Over Time with the Dynamic Location Breakdown Structure
摘要
Contractors continually face the challenge of efficient space management on construction sites, as neglecting this crucial aspect can result in reduced productivity due to congested areas, unnecessary resource movements, and increased safety risks. The goal of the Dynamic Modelling of Occupancy Rate Schedule (D.M.O.R.S.) is to leverage the spatiotemporal visualization capabilities of Chronographic Modelling, by providing contractors with a planning system that seamlessly integrates construction scheduling and dynamic modeling of site occupancy rates. This entails the ability to dynamically visualize and plan both indoor and outdoor areas available during construction and gather all the necessary information pertaining to these areas for D.M.O.R.S. calculations. From a sector perspective, the construction of a building can be broken down into several key stages, each necessitating its own allocation of space. In this research, we introduce the Dynamic Location Breakdown Structure (DLBS) to plan the allocation of available space into functional sectors based on the specific needs of the construction project. The DLBS empowers construction managers to utilize building plans and analyze the work schedule to determine the evolving status of sectors available during construction. Subsequently, once the DLBS is established, we present a methodology for extracting essential information required for D.M.O.R.S. occupancy rate calculations.
