Analysis of Prognostic Factors in Prostate Cancer—A New Approach

Prostate cancer is one of the most common malignancies in men and the second leading cause of cancer mortality. Despite advances in diagnosis and treatment, accurately predicting outcomes remains a challenge due to the disease’s complexity, which involves various biological, clinical, and pathological factors. Previous studies on 300 patients who underwent radical prostatectomy highlighted the importance of the Gleason score as a key predictor of prognosis. However, the prognostic tools used had limitations, prompting the development of a more comprehensive questionnaire. This new tool integrates additional variables such as clinical histories, advanced imaging findings, and molecular markers to improve predictive accuracy. Using logistic regression, the study tested the tool’s effectiveness in stratifying patients by risk. Preliminary results showed significant improvements in predictive models, particularly when integrating new variables alongside the Gleason score, PSA levels, and genetic markers. The new tool allows for more personalized treatment plans, potentially improving clinical outcomes by identifying high-risk patients for aggressive treatment and sparing low-risk patients from unnecessary interventions. This study emphasizes the enduring importance of traditional markers like the Gleason score while demonstrating the value of incorporating newer clinical and molecular data. Future research will refine the tool and expand its application, particularly as new biomarkers and diagnostic technologies emerge. This advancement in prostate cancer prognosis aims to improve patient care through more precise risk assessments and treatment strategies.
