This chapter focuses on the labor insertion itineraries of the 50 social scientists who donated their testimonies to this book. Its objective is to discuss their routes of entry into the productive sector after completing their undergraduate training and to address the gender inequalities they faced in this process. The chapter begins by situating the analytical framework used, discussing the notion of labor insertion and its gendered character. Then, drawing on the female narratives, the text analyzes the difficulties faced by women starting in their first jobs, the inequalities experienced in different work niches, and the precariousness endured for one or two decades before obtaining a stable academic position. We also analyze the formal recruitment process used to access these jobs and explain the clientelist irregularities faced by women, which in most of the testimonies favored male candidates. The final section discusses the five concluding axes of the chapter.
