Basic Concepts of Convexity
摘要
Convexity is a classic theme, studied in many different areas of mathematics. Among the oldest contributions, there are several in the book “Elements,” written by Euclid around 300 BC, as well as the first precise definition of a convex curve or surface, given by Archimedes around 250 BC. Ancient mathematicians and physicists, such as Kepler, Descartes, Euler, Fourier, Gauss, and Cauchy, made important contributions to the field of convexity.
