A solar gas turbine is one of the most promising energy technologies under active research. It comprises multiple components and subsystems and involves optical, thermodynamic, hydrodynamic, heat transfer and combustion processes that are related in complex ways. Simulation enables engineers and scientists to design complex systems and predict system behaviour without costly prototypes. In this chapter, we present and discuss principles of simulation and their application in the advancement of solar gas turbines for generating electricity.
