Environmental Performance of Solar Gas Turbines
摘要
There are growing concerns about environmental degradation arising from different activities of energy and other systems. At present most of the energy is derived from fossil fuels. Nevertheless, exploitation of these fuels is contributing to various environmental problems including the degradation of air, water, and soil/land resources. Consequently, there is a shift in policies to promote sustainable development. Exploitation of renewable energy is expected to assist in providing sustainable energy. The key driver for developing renewable energy is to mitigate climate change. In this vein, concentrating solar power (CSP) is one of the most promising renewable energy technologies. It is now clear that application of the gas turbine cycle can significantly increase the efficiency of the CSP technology, making it more competitive on the market. In this vein, third-generation CSP systems are expected to be based on the gas turbine cycle. This chapter presents various aspects of the environmental performance the solar gas turbine technology.
