Flower, Inflorescence, and Fruit
摘要
The flower is the limited growth, reproductive shoot of angiosperms and gymnosperms. Restricted growth means that unlike the leafy stem, the size of the flower does not change with the size of the plant, the flower of the large tree is not larger than that of the smaller one. Flowers stand alone or form groups. The flowers developing from the same bud form the inflorescence. This attracts pollinating insects much more than a solitary flower, which explains the significant territorial expansion of inflorescences. They can be unisexual, in this case the individual flowers forming the inflorescence are either staminate or pistillate. The flower first evolved in gymnosperms, which include pines. In female flowers of gymnosperm, the carpels did not fuse into a closed ovary, their ovules develop freely, not in a closed ovary. The fruit only develops from a closed ovary, so gymnosperms do not have fruit. The ovulate cone is nothing more than the female inflorescence of the pine (Fig. 6.1)!
