Considerations of Biomaterials in Revision Total Hip Arthroplasty
摘要
The biomaterials used in primary and revision total hip arthroplasty (THA) are central to the longevity of THA. The desirable characteristics of these materials allow for the sustained pain relief provided by successful THA. However, the limitations in mechanical properties, biocompatibility, and wear rates contribute to the failure of both primary and revision THA. This chapter explores the essential biomaterials utilized in THA and details the disease processes resulting from the failure of these biomaterials.
