Pelvic Discontinuity Techniques
摘要
Pelvic discontinuity (PD) is defined as a complete bony separation of the superior aspect of the pelvis (ilium) from the inferior aspect (ischium and pubis) due to fracture or periacetabular bone loss (D’Antonio et al., Clin Orthop 243:126–137, 1989; Berry et al., J Bone Joint Surg Am 81:1692–1702, 1999). Though it is a relatively uncommon reason for revision total hip arthroplasty, management is often difficult given the lack of adequate bone stock to achieve stable fixation using standard revision acetabular components. Identifying a pelvic discontinuity is paramount to choosing the appropriate treatment for revision surgery, though a variety of treatments exist.
